In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, 60 matches have been completed with the two-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, becoming the first team to book their playoff berth with an 18-run victory against the Mumbai Indians on Saturday in a rain-affected match at the Eden Gardens. The Rajasthan Royals, who have a 99% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff, will face the Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
In the IPL 2024 points table, CSK, DC, and LSG are placed fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively after managing 12 points in 12 games, however, the net run rate is a distinctive factor among them. Kolkata Knight Riders
The two-time IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated the Mumbai Indians by 18 runs to become the first team to clinch the playoff berth as they have registered 9 wins in 12 matches so far.
Rajasthan Royals
The inaugural IPL champions, Rajasthan Royals topped the points table for most of the season, however, their two consecutive losses in their previous fixtures have put them behind KKR in the standings. Despite two losses in a row, RR have a 99% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs.
SunRisers Hyderabad
Pat Cummins-led SunRisers Hyderabad are riding high on the shoulders of their openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The SRH has already become the team with the most sixes in one season in IPL history as they have struck 146 sixes in 12 matches (CSK 145 in 2018). The SunRisers have a 96% chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals
CSK and DC have 12 points each in 12 games, however, the Super Kings are placed above the Capitals due to a better net run rate. With a better net run rate, CSK have a better chance to qualify for the playoff over DC as the five-time champions have a 35% qualification chance while Delhi have a 32% chance.
Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bengaluru
While LSG have also have 12 points in 12 games their worrisome net run rate put them alongside RCB, who have 10 points in 12 games, in the playoff qualification scenario. LSG and RCB have a 19% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff.
Gujarat Titans
The Gujarat Titans recent win over the Chennai Super Kings have provided them with a 1% chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoff. GT have managed 10 points in 12 games equalising RCB, however, the Titans' net run rate placed them at the eighth spot in the standings.
Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings
The IPL 2024 playoff qualification chances for the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings are zero as they have managed just eight points. However, MI are placed above PBKS due to their better net run rate despite playing a game more.
