India captain Rohit Sharma has opened up on his captaincy saga and said that playing under someone else is not new to him. Sharma with BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar addressed the media a few days after announcing India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Sharma, who has been out of the T20I format for quite some time is set to lead the side for the upcoming marquee tournament in the USA and West Indies.
During the press conference on May 2, Thursday, Sharma indirectly spoke about being replaced as the MI captain and returning to India’s helm in the T20 format after more than a year. The 37-year-old said, “It's part of life. Not everything will go your way. been a great experience. Before in my life, I have played under other captains. Not new to me. You go with it and do what is required as a player and that's what I have done for last month."
There has been no talks about the vice-captaincy: Ajit Agarkar on Hardik Pandya
BCCI Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar opened up on Hardik Pandya being named vice-captain of the Indian squad during the World Cup 2024. He said that there were no doubts about Pandya shouldering the responsibility. Agarkar said, "There has been no talks about the vice-captaincy - what Hardik brings as a cricketer, it's tough to replace - he gives lots of options to the captain as well and he is just coming back after a long break.”
