Rajasthan Royals have a strong team on paper as they have retained their main players ahead of the IPL 2024 auction like top order batters like Buttler, Jaiswal, Samson and key bowlers like Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin, and Prasidh Krishna. But the Royals lack a solid middle-order batter apart.
Hence RR could look to target some middle-order batters in IPL 2024 auctions and we will have a look at three possible buys.
1. Daryl Mitchell:
Daryl Mitchell played a pragmatic role with the bat in the 2023 World Cup as a middle-order batsman where he was seen scoring 552 runs from 9 innings at an average of 69. Daryl Mitchell was already part of RR in the 2022 season and his ability to play well in middle overs could help his cause to be picked by RR in the auction.

2. Rassie van der Dussen:
Rassie van der Dussen’s solid role as middle order batsman in the 2023 World Cup helped South Africa qualify for the semi-finals as he scored 448 runs in that tournament with two fifties and two centuries. Van der Dussen can play spinners well in the middle overs of the game and hence he can be a good fit for the side.

3. Steven Smith:
Australian middle-order batsman was last seen playing for Delhi Capitals in 2021 IPL and post that he went unsold in IPL 2022 and didn’t register himself in 2023 auctions.
RR looking for a middle order batter could consider their former player, as he has a very good experience playing in this T20 league for this franchise. He was seen leading RR franchise in the 2019 & 2020 IPL. In the recently concluded 2023 WC he scored 302 runs from 10 innings.
