Anukul Roy officially made his India A debut today against Sri Lanka A in the opening match of the Tri-Nation A Series. He received his maiden India A cap earlier today in Dambulla, Sri Lanka. He made an immediate impact for the team during the game. India A batted first and scored a competitive 277/6 in their 50 overs. The stars with the bat were Ruturaj Gaikwad (who scored an amazing 101 runs) and captain Tilak Varma (who scored a solid 60).When Sri Lanka A chased, they looked like they were going to win easily. Their captain, Sahan Arachchige, was hitting big shots and keeping them right on track. This is exactly when Anukul Roy was brought in to save the game.
Sri Lanka A only needed a run a ball to win and were cruising. Anukul came on to bowl the 38th over. He bowled 6 perfect dot balls in a row to the set batsman. It was the only maiden over bowled by any Indian player in the second innings. It created a huge pressure. Sri Lanka's top batsmen were building a dangerous partnership. Anukul deceived Sadeera Samarawickrama with a slower ball, forcing him to hit a high catch straight to long-on. Just as Sri Lanka tried to rebuild, Anukul reacted with lightning speed on his own bowling. He dove to grab a brilliant caught-and-bowled catch to send Ravindu Fernando back to the pavilion. In a high-scoring thriller where other bowlers leaked runs, Anukul gave away just 4.90 runs per over. This allowed the fast bowlers to attack from the other end.
