The social handles of JioHotsar and StarSports released the commentators' panel for the 2026 IPL season for several languages across the country. The panel featured several commentary veterans like Virendra Sehwag, Aakash Chopra, Ravi Shastri and the new addition of the former IPL player, Ravinchandran Ashwin. However, it was missing some major names of the modern cricket voice, Jatin Sapru and the former CSK player Ambati Rayudu.
The exclusion of Sapru was noticed by fans of the IPL, and they were disheartened with his absence. Many also compared his absence to Gaurav Kapoor’s slow fading out from the StarSports commentating panel.
Sapru to leave commentating for business?
A post on X (formerly,Twitter) went viral, which stated that Jatin Sapru is finishing his commentary stint and will now focus on establishing his business. The post caught the attention of the fans quickly, who expressed their disappointment over his absence. The viral post by Muftanal Wohra read, “IPL 2026 season likely to be the final season of Jatin Sapru as a commentator, as he plans to start his own business”. The post got 565.2K views in just a few hours.
The post also caught Sapru’s eyes, who later clarified that nothing like this is happening, and he is not leaving cricket anytime soon.
