On this day, June 10, 2024: South Africa beat Bangladesh by six runs in a low scoring thriller. It was the 21st match of the T20 World Cup 2024 played between South Africa and Bangladesh. The surface was tricky for batting and South Africa were put into bat first. Bangladesh pacers started brilliantly in the powerplay picking up four wickets. South Africa were reduced to 23/4 in the fifth over as they lost the wickets of Reeza Hendricks, Quinron De Kock, Aiden Markram and Tristan Stubbs cheaply. Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim Sakib bowled brilliantly with the new ball.

David Miller and Heinrich Klassen consolidated things for South Africa and put up a partnership but the run rate was on the slower side. South Africa lost their fifth wicket with 102 runs on the board. Klassen was the top scorer with 46 while the rest of the lineup struggled as Southern Africa finished with 113/6 at the end of the first innings. It was a below par total but the surface was extremely helpful for the pacers so South Africa were right in the game.

Chasing the target, Bangladesh lost the wicket of Tanzid early but did not lose any more wickets in the powerplay and ended with 29 runs at the end of the powerplay. South African bowlers dominated the middle overs as Bangladesh were reduced to 50/4 at the halfway stage of the innings.

The required run rate kept climbing and Bangladesh batters could not make it up as they fell short by just four runs in the end. Bangladesh ended with 109/7 at the end of the innings. The match went till the final over and it was a thrilling win by South Africa.
