KL Rahul was struggling to score runs at the ongoing T20 World Cup before he scored a half-century against Bangladesh on Wednesday (2 November). The opening batter has registered scores of 4, 9, and 9 in the three matches he played before this game. Rahul once again started slowly against Bangladesh as he took 21 balls to score 20 runs. However, once the batter understood the pace and bounce, it was a mayhem.
Rahul raced to his half-century in 31 balls. He hit three boundaries and four sixes in his inning. With KL Rahul returning to form, everyone pointed to the talk he had with Virat Kohli before the game. It’s worth mentioning that Rahul and Kohli were involved in a long conversation during the indoor session before the match against Bangladesh. Kohli was seen advising the opener about foot movement and other technical things.
Now, Rahul has revealed the conversation the two batters had. Rahul said that the two were just talking about the wicket in Australia and how it is playing differently from previous tours. The opening batter then said that he was trying to understand Kohli’s mindset as the latter scored runs with ease in the first two games.
“We were actually just discussing how Australian conditions have been a little different this time. We have come here before and played Test cricket and we expected the wickets to play in a certain way and that’s not happened so far, and it’s been more challenging than our previous tour. We were just talking about that thing,” Rahul shed light about his chat with Kohli.
“We were discussing the mindset and what we can do in the middle. I was seeing if I can use something that he says in the middle, and if we can help each other. Those are the discussions that we all have as players. Obviously, he has been doing really well in the last few games and I was trying to understand his mindset and what he is thinking while he is in the middle. Just about that,” he added.
