The 2021 edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is set to kick off on July 19, Monday with Lyca Kovai Kings locking horns with Salem Spartans. While there will be a few players to watch out for in the season opener, all eyes will be on Shahrukh Khan after being recently appointed as the captain of Kovai Kings ahead of the season. The 26-year-old has grown as a player in last year, having won the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with Tamil Nadu before getting an opportunity to play in IPL with Punjab Kings.

Ahead of the first game of TNPL 2021, Shahrukh Khan interacted with the media through a virtual press conference on Sunday. The explosive batsman shed light on his experience and learnings from his stint in IPL and explained how he plans to use that to his advantage while leading his side in the tournament.

I have learnt a lot while playing for Punjab Kings: Shahrukh

Shahrukh Khan was bought by Punjab Kings in IPL 2021 auction for a whopping 5.25 crores. Although the season had to be suspended midway due to COVID-19 outbreak, the 26-year-old added that he learnt quite a lot from his time where he shared the dressing room with some big names.

Reflecting on the learnings from leaders like KL Rahul and Anil Kumble in Punjab Kings, Shahrukh said, "I have learnt a lot from them. But I need to execute my own plans as well," while answering to SportsTiger's question during the virtual press conference.

The 26-year-old reflects on his interaction with Dhoni

The explosive batsman also reflected on the interaction he had with MS Dhoni during IPL 2021. Shahrukh revealed that he had a really good conversation with the CSK skipper who really liked his batting. The Kovai Kings skipper added that the only thing Thala advised him was to keep things simple on the field.

Talking about the importance of TNPL 2021, Shahrukh said that it is going to be great for the players to be back in action after such a long break. He added that this tournament is going to be massive for him in a bid to prepare for the second half of IPL 2021.
