The Babar Azam-led Pakistan team surpassed Australia on Saturday, August 26 to become the top ranked team in the One-Day Internationals. The Men in Green registered a 3-0 series sweep against Afghanistan to rise to No. 1 in ICC ODI Team Rankings. Notably, the Pakistan men had already sealed the series after winning the second ODI of the three-match series but reclaimed the top spot after a series sweep.
They dethroned Australia after a 59-run win in the final ODI of the series in Hambantota. While both the sides - Pakistan and Australia have played 23 matches and are at 118 in ratings, the only difference between them is of 10 points as Pakistan now sit at top with 2,725 with Australia only behind with 2,714 points.
This joy of Pakistan going at the top of ODI Rankings just days ahead of Asia Cup 2023 and the ODI World Cup 2023, got joy to many, with many talking of Babar Azam being the No. 1 batter and his team the No. 1 in ODIs now.
