Chennai Super Kings had a successful campaign in the previous edition of the Indian Premier League as they were crowned as the champions for a record fifth time. Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Yellow Army is one of the most successful teams in the tournament. One quality that sets them apart from their competition is that rather than focusing on big names, they work on available players and work on making them match winners.
Ahead of the IPL 2024 auction, the Chennai-based franchise released a few players and retained most of their names not tinkering with their overall balance. However, as the auction date is approaching, there are a few names that the CSK might want to target.
Josh Hazlewood
The first name that Chennai Super Kings should target in the upcoming season is Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood. MS Dhoni’s team released names like Kyle Jamieson, Sisanda Magala, and Dwaine Pretorious, and they would need an overseas speedster. Hazlewood is known for his early breakthroughs and impeccable line and length, and his international experience will enhance the CSK’s pace battery. The pacer played an instrumental role in CSK’s victory in 2021 and his homecoming would add a new dimension to the team.
