The annual player auction for the SA20 for the 2024 season of the league took place on September 27, Wednesday. The second auction of the South Africa-based league saw six teams entering into a bidding war to onboard the best names from a vast pool of players. Each franchise was required to build a squad of 19 players each, consisting of 10 players from South Africa.
The six teams that participated in the auction were Durban's Super Giants, Joburg Super Kings, MI Cape Town, Paarl Royals, Pretoria Capitals, and Sunrisers Eastern Cape. While many players were sold at decent prices, there were a few names that didn’t get a bid in the auction. Here are a few of them:
Robin Uthappa
Former India cricketer Robin Uthappa was the first cricketer from the country to participate in the auction of the South Africa 20 league. However, the India cricketer who played 46 ODIs and 13 T20Is remained unsold in the second edition of the auction for the T20I league.
Having played for Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League, the 37-year-old cricketer was expecting to get a solid deal. With a base price of around INR 37 lakh, the Indian cricketer-turned-commentator failed to make it to any of the teams.
