Last 50-over World Cup before a change in format
While the game of cricket has been a constant favourite among sports lovers, the popularity of ODI cricket has fallen drastically. The busier and hectic lifestyle hardly allows cricket fans to invest several hours to watch the game. Not only this, but earlier England’s Ben Stokes also announced his retirement from the ODI format, citing that it is 'unsustainable' to play all three formats and manage the workload through a hectic cricketing calendar, giving birth to several debates.
Recently, former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri said that it is high time that the ODI format needs to be amended to 40-overs.
