On Saturday, December 9, the star-studded Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 auction concluded in the city of Mumbai. Just like any other cricketing auction from previous years, the WPL auction delivered the goods big time, allowing the women’s players to get signed for massive contracts to showcase their cricketing skills in the next season of the franchise tournament.

On the back of a title-winning WPL 2023 season, the defending champions Mumbai Indians, the runners-up Delhi Capitals, and the third-place team UP Warriorz were some of the least active teams in the auction, signing a handful of players to bolster their squad. Meanwhile, the two bottom-placed teams in last year’s tournament, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants welcomed a whole host of players to their respective squads.
