MS Dhoni has become a cult hero in India. The former India captain is very famous and has a huge fan following. MS Dhoni fans are spread all over India. There isn't a single state in India where you wouldn't find MS Dhoni fans.
Dhoni has always been humble with fans whenever he gets the opportunity to meet them. The Chennai Super Kings leader always treats his fans with respect and courtesy. We have seen Dhoni gifting his fans various things be it from signed cricket balls to Indian jerseys or the famous CSK "Number 7" Jersey.
However, here in this article, we have a look at a few instances where Dhoni fans have managed to give their idol a memorable gift.
1. Portrait of Dhoni with his daughter Ziva
Captain Cool MS Dhoni is a well-known cricketer. But weaver and passionate cricket fan K. Appusamy of Chennimalai identified the father in the legendary captain.
In August 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 45-year-old textile designer at Chennimalai Handloom Weavers' Cooperative Society Limited (Chentex) weaved the portrait of Dhoni with his daughter Ziva.
According to Mr Appusamy said, “Beyond a cricketer, he is a great father and has good bonding with Ziva as I have with my daughter. This gift is from one father to another father.”
2. Special Two Cans of Tea
Back in 2018, when MS Dhoni was an integral part of the Indian Team he used to visit the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for preparation camps before big tours and matches. One such time, Dhoni was in Bangalore at NCA Camp.
A Superfan from the city Pranav Jain use to visit the camp and hotel where MS Dhoni was staying regularly. He got many chances to interact with Dhoni.
In his first interaction with Dhoni, Pranav got a few autographs. During his second interaction, Pranav revealed his conversation with the World Cup-winning captain. “I told him that there were only three weeks left. He replied Kai ke liye (what for). I said it’s ‘someone’s birthday’. To it, Dhoni funny replied: "Chal hat, ek saal aur buddha.” (one more year older)
The Next day, Pranav went in with 2 cans of special Tea as an advance birthday gift (gesture) which MS Dhoni used to like. On seeing Tea Cans in Pranav's hand Dhoni reportedly said: "Ab chai ke badle pachas autograph lega” (now in exchange for the tea, will you take 50 autographs?).
Pranav said those 3 days will be the most memorable days of his life.
3. Sketch from specially-abled fan
Back in 2017, the Indian Team was playing a limited-overs series against Australia. The 2nd match was scheduled to take place in Guwahati, Assam. India lost that match badly and even a few stones were pelted at the Indian team bus during that time.
But there was another fan, named Abhijeet Gotani from Silchar who had sketched a beautiful sketch of Indian team captain Virat Kohli and his favourite Captain Cool MS Dhoni. The NGO named Friends of the earth presented these 2 sketches on behalf of Abhijeet to Dhoni and Kohli.
More recently, MSD received a sketch from a specially-abled fan at the Ranchi airport. Despite being a retired international cricketer for close to two years now, there is hardly a decline in his fa following and Lavanya, the specially abled fan was very happy to meet him and even shed tears of joy. She gifted him a sketch.

4. Emotional CSK Fan's Open Letter to Dhoni
In the recently concluded IPL 2022, CSK probably had a year to forget. Firstly they changed captains at the start of the season and Ravindra Jadeja was announced as the new captain. But the campaign went all wrong and MS Dhoni had to step in and take captaincy back from Jadeja and become skipper of Chennai Super Kings once again in the middle of the season.
Seeing CSK, their favourite team not performing and having a terrible season, a die hard CSK fan wrote an open letter to Dhoni headlining, "O captain, our captain, there shall never be someone like you."
Dhoni responded to this fan's open letter and wrote a message for him that said, “Well Written and Best Wishes”. Later CSK's official social media handles shared this letter with MS Dhoni's message for the fan-written on it.
5. Birthday Gift from Dhoni's endorsed brand
Since Dhoni is one of the biggest celebrities in India, he endorses a lot many brands. One such brand ran a campaign on social media with the hashtag #MSDBirthdayWithYiPPee where MS Dhoni fans were encouraged to share their pictures and message for their beloved captain cool to YiPPee.
The noodles' brand then created a beautiful Mosaic where you can see smiling MS Dhoni in an orange jersey with fans in the background. The mosaic is an appropriate illustration of Dhoni's ever-smiling and positive persona and celebrates the special relationship between the cricketer and his ardent fans. This Mosaic was later shared with Dhoni and Dhoni even responded with a “Thank You”.
6. Sketch Made out of Matchsticks
An artist named Ram made an Amazing sketch of MS Dhoni through Matchsticks. He shared that video of making that entire sketch on Instagram and tagged MS Dhoni and his wife. Dhoni liked his post and commented well-done on it. Later that same post was shared by the CSK Fan Army official account on their Instagram handle.
7. Special Song Dedicated to Him
MS Dhoni got a special birthday gift on his 39th Birthday from one of his biggest fans, none other than his CSK teammate DJ Bravo. Bravo, who turned himself into a part-time singer and has a few popular hits to his name, none more popular than the peppy number "Champion", famously dedicated a song named “Helicopter 7” to Dhoni. Bravo posted this song on all his social media handles and the audience made this song famous in no time. He termed Dhoni "brother from another mother" in the song.
