Ajinkya Rahane also has great captaincy experience in the IPL. He has captained Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS). He led RPS in 2017 when regular captain Steve Smith was unavailable due to food poisoning. The right-handed batter led RR in a total of 24 matches in IPL in 2018 and 2019. However, due to the inconsistent performance, he was replaced by Steve Smith in the middle of the 2019 IPL season.
Apart from T20Is, the 36-year-old captained the Indian team in ODIs and Tests. He led the Indian team in three ODI matches and won all; while in Test matches, he captained the side in six matches, winning four of them, whereas two matches ended in a draw.
