AB de Villiers, the former South Africa captain, in his recent show on YouTube, shared his disappointment with Yuzvendra Chahal getting omitted from the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2023. The 39-year-old, who was once a teammate of the Indian leg spinner at the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, talked about how handy and skillful a bowler he is.

For the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 campaign, the only wrist spin option available for the Indian captain Rohit Sharma to call upon is Kuldeep Yadav. While, the all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel are also expected to fulfill the spin bowling for Team India, with their left-arm orthodox bowling style.

On his YouTube channel, AB de Villiers thought that a leg-spinning option is something a team greatly needs. He stated that while sharing his disappointment towards the Indian selectors who made the call to leave out Yuzvendra Chahal. 

He was quoted as saying, as per India Today, “Chahal has been dropped, selectors making their intentions clear who they will be picking. It's a bit of a disappointing drop for me, Yuzi is always very handy and it's great to have the leg-spinning option in your team. We know how skillful he is.”

Earlier, Ajit Agarkar, the chief selector for India, had explained that the balance and combination of the team was the reason behind dropping Yuzvendra Chahal from the Asia Cup 2023 squad. Meanwhile, the captain Rohit Sharma also said in the press conference that the “door is not closed” on Yuzvendra Chahal with regards to finding a place in Team India in the near future.
