The Australian fast-bowler, Jason Behrendorff, who has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to a freak injury, shared a heartfelt post on his official Instagram account about the unfortunate turn of events. The 33-year-old also spoke about how much he loved being a part of the MI Family during the IPL last year.
Just a day ago, Mumbai Indians released an official statement to announce that Luke Wood, the young rising English fast bowler, will be replacing Jason Behrendorff in the IPL 2024 season. Notably, both Luke Wood and Jason Behrendorff are left-arm fast bowlers, but the level of experience is completely different for both players.
In his latest story on Instagram, Jason Behrendorff spoke about his injury, and said, “Unfortunately, there was a freak accident at training last week which resulted in my leg being broken. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, just a very unlucky incident.” He continued, “I have loved being a part of the MI Family and I am absolutely gutted to be missing this year’s IPL.”
Jason Behrendorff suffered an injury while batting in the nets at the WACA Ground in Perth, in his final preparation last week, before his scheduled arrival to India for the IPL 2024.
The report from ESPNcricinfo divulged the details of his injury, the excerpts of it read, “Behrendorff was batting in the nets at the WACA ground last Thursday ahead of departing to India to play in the IPL with Mumbai Indians when he suffered a fractured left fibula after a ball missed his pad and struck him flush just above the left ankle.”
