In a major development, Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly considering a loan move for out-of-favour Manchester United star Marcus Rashford in the ongoing January transfer window. The club advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has been tasked to find solutions in regards to the current slump of AC Milan, has thrown the name of Marcus Rashford in the mix, to solve their goal-scoring issues which have coincided with Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic’s injuries.
Notably, Marcus Rashford wasn’t a part of Manchester United’s travelling squad to Liverpool due to illness, and in his absence, they earned a well-deserved 2-2 draw against Premier League leaders at Anfield. Before this big fixture, the 27-year-old was picked in the Manchester United matchday squad only once in five matches last month due to poor showing in training, while his performances beforehand weren’t inspiring.
Manchester United ideally look forward to selling Marcus Rashford for £40 million
As per the report from the Daily Mail, Manchester United ideally look forward to selling Marcus Rashford for £40 million plus wages of over £325,000-a-week, with the latter being a major stumbling block in securing a deal for him especially in the middle of the season. With that, they are looking to offer the Englishman on loan with an obligation to buy, and it has led to various clubs being interested in bringing him in, including Italian giants AC Milan.
Moreover, over the past few weeks, Marcus Rashford has turned down offers from Saudi Pro League clubs because he wants to give himself the best chance to get selected for England, and that could happen with a move to a club in Europe. While he is interested in playing club football in Spain if his time at Manchester United does come to an end this year, the deal is expected to go through in the summer rather than the ongoing January transfer window.
Marcus Rashford could play his first match of 2025 with Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal this weekend in the FA Cup third round.
