After beating Sri Lanka in their Asia Cup 2022 opener, Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh in a low-scoring thriller match on Tuesday and became the first team to secure berth in Super 4s of the continental tournament.

The bowling unit of Afghanistan including Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fazalhaq Farooqi has the potential while their game against Bangladesh showed that their opening and middle-order batsmen also possess firepower to clinch a win from the most-difficult situations.

Cricket experts have lauded the match-winning efforts of Afghanistan team and former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja has believed that Afghanistan can also defeat big teams like India or Pakistan considering their current form.

While speaking on Cricbuzz on Tuesday, Jadeja stated, " Teams should be wary when they play these guys in Super 4s. When you play these guys in the Super 4, I won't be surprised if they knock one of the big teams off.  They have the firepower, bowling everyone knows what they can do. Imagine either of the teams, India or Pakistan, is 20/2 or 30/2, then they won't allow you to make a comeback. These guys have that ability."

“Now with their batting they've showed that their openers can play in a certain way. So if you're an analyst for India or Pakistan, how are you going to plan, what are you thinking? They can come and surprise you and the rest of the team surprises even more,” the ex-cricketer added.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong will face Team India on Wednesday before taking on the likes of Pakistan on September 2 in the Asia Cup 2022 Group A fixture at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
