Australia Women has been handed a jolt ahead of the upcoming ODI series against India. Star wicketkeeper-batter and Australia captain, Alyssa Healy is set to miss the upcoming bilateral series against India due to a leg injury. However, a confirmation on her participation for the India ODIs is yet to be taken, Healy will miss the remainder of Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) season with the injury.
Healy’s WBBL franchise, Sydney Sixers on Saturday, November 16 confirmed that the Aussie batter has been struggling with the injury which she sustained at the Women’s T20 World Cup in October and has been ruled out of the remaining season of the WBBL.

However, the injury comes at a crucial phase raising doubts over her participation in the upcoming bilateral series, which is set to begin four days after the conclusion of WBBL Final, which is scheduled for December 1. “There are higher powers sitting above that are quite vocal in what can and can’t happen, which I completely understand,” Healy said earlier this month.
“I want to be available for as much of the summer as I can. I’ve hardly played a game for the Sixers in the past two season…. I want to be available but the reality is that might not be the case. How I pull up from games is going to be really important,” she had added as quoted by Cricbuzz.
The Australian skipper is set to undergo assessments in the next fortnight with the squad being announced by next weekend. However, the injury is not deemed serious to affect her availability for the multi-format Ashes series, starting January 12 in Sydney.
