UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak joined the England cricket team for a friendly cricket match on Friday. Sunak joined the England cricket team during a net session, where he showcased his batting skills. The UK Prime Minister has time and again spoken about his love for cricket, and he finally took his passion to a whole new level when he flaunted his batting skills in front of the English cricket team.
During the session, Sunak faced the legendary James Anderson and engaged in a conversation with him. Not only this, but he also signed autographs and clicked pictures with several aspiring cricketers. In the session, Sunak blocked a delivery from Anderson with a forward defence. He interacted with Anderson and revealed that he had a net session to get ready to pace him.
The 43-year-old also asked the English pacer if he would go easy on him, to which the latter replied, “We will see.” Sunak posted the video on his social media, and accompanied it with the caption, “Am I ready for the call-up England Cricket?” The official channel of the England Cricket reposted the video and wrote, “Not bad, perhaps a few more net sessions first.”
Recently, Sunak announced a GBP 35 million investment in cricket across England and Wales. He announced, "I love cricket, that's no secret. So I'm pleased that today we can support even more young people in getting into the game. We're investing £35 million in grassroots cricket to help over 900,000 young people into playing cricket.” The initiative was introduced to support and grow sports at the grassroots levels in the nation.
