Social media influencer and former kickboxer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were detained by the Romanian authorities on Monday evening after the British authorities issued an arrest warrant, his spokesperson said Tuesday. The arrest came moments after the Tate brothers slammed former WWE champion John Cena over his naked stunt at the Oscars 2024.

In June 2023, Tate was charged with rape allegations, human trafficking, and forming a group to exploit women. After being held for three months in police detention, Andrew Tate along with his brother Tristan Tate were moved to house arrest in Romania. Later, they were released for house arrest on August 4 but restricted to the areas of Bucharest Municipality and nearby Ilfov County.   Check the top betting trends on the  best betting apps in India  and sites.

The Romanian police said in a statement that the UK authorities issued the arrest warrant over sexual offences, which also included exploiting people in Great Britain. The Tate brothers were presented to the Bucharest Court of Appeal, who ordered their detention for 24 hours.

Reportedly, four women accused Tate of alleged sexual violence and physical abuse and reported him to the UK authorities. However, the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute him, and the alleged victims turned to crowdfunding to cover their legal costs as they pursued a civil case against him.

According to spokesperson Mateea Petrescu, the Tate brothers were detained on the allegations of sexual aggression in a UK case from 2012 to 2015. The statement read, "They categorically reject all charges and express profound disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence.

"They are fully committed to challenging these accusations with unwavering determination and resolve."

Andrew Tate slams John Cena over naked Oscars 2024 stunt

The arrest of the Tate brothers came moments after they called out John Cena on a livestream for walking on the stage naked to present the Best Costume Award. While reacting to Cena's stunt, Tate said, "I want to make something clear: I was saying this morning about how John Cena was doing his humiliation ritual at the Oscars to satisfy his gay paymasters, and some people were saying, ‘Oh, maybe he is promoting his movie.'"

Tate added, "I don’t care what movie I make, you can not convince me to do that, you can not convince me to do something fruity or weird, it doesn’t matter what movie I am in. I won’t do it because my principles are too strong."
