After the Indian batting superstar, V irat Kohli brought up his 76th international century at the Queen’s Park Oval, he received many congratulatory messages on social media from fans and former cricketers alike. Sachin Tendulkar, the Bharat Ratna, also sent out an Instagram story to appreciate the milestone of his former India teammate.
It was during the morning session on Day 2 of the second Test match between West Indies and India in Port of Spain, Trinidad, where Virat Kohli notched up his hundred, after smashing the half-volley from Shannon Gabriel through the point region for a four. The 34-year-old went on to celebrate the moment, firstly hugging Ravindra Jadeja, who was in the middle alongside him, before taking a bow in front of the Indian cricket team in the pavilion, just like Shubman Gill.
Shortly afterwards, Sachin Tendulkar posted a picture of Virat Kohli kissing his wedding ring in an Instagram story, captioning it, “Another day, another century by @virat.kohli. Well played!”
Notably, this was the first Test hundred for the former India captain in overseas conditions after nearly five years. Also, this was Virat Kohli's 29th century in the longest format, only the second in nearly half a decade. He had reached the magical three-figure score earlier in March against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad during the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Meanwhile, the Delhi-born cricketer was dismissed before the end of the first session on Day 2. He was run out at the score of 121 off 206 deliveries, after failing to judge the single correctly, which led to Alzarri Joseph demolishing the stumps at the non-striker’s end.
