Indian fans on X reacted after India got off to a horrific start in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 final. On Saturday, June 29, Men in Blue locked horns with South Africa in the summit clash of the tournament at the Kensington Oval, Barbados. India were playing their first T20 World Cup final after a decade, whereas it was South Africa’s first ever World Cup final. The game started with India skipper Rohit Sharma winning the toss and inviting the rivals to field first.
Undefeated India were aiming for a favourable and powerful start to lay a solid foundation in the game. However, things didn’t go in their favour as the 2007 champions lose quick wickets in the first few overs. India lost skipper and talisman batter Rohit Sharma and wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant in first two overs. Not only this, but they were reduced to 34-3 within five overs.
As the team lost crucial wickets in the beginning, fans took to social media to react on the same.
During the toss, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said, “I know it's a big occasion but it's important to remain calm and play it like it's another international game against a good team. South Africa have played some good cricket but so have we. It's going to be a really good game between two quality teams. Different individuals have stepped up at different times and that's what we're looking forward to today as well.”
