Son of cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar, bowling all-rounder Arjun Tendulkar has been once again dropped from the Goa squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25. The Indian youngster, who returned in the List A squad in Goa’s match against Odisha, was earlier dropped from the side during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024-25.
Although, Arjun Tendulkar featured in three matches for Goa during the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25, he was left out for the upcoming matches. It is to be noted that the Indian youngster had a decent stint in the domestic tournament where he picked three matches and went for 61 runs in a high-scoring game against Odisha. However, he went wicketless against Haryana, he scored 14 runs with the bat.
Why was Arjun Tendulkar dropped from Goa squad for Vijaya Hazare Trophy 2024-25?
The 25-year-old cricketer who contributed well in the ongoing domestic tournament, wasn’t named in the squad for Goa’s match against Uttarakhand. This decision comes as Goa are coming off two victories from three matches and may advance to the second round. However, the decision to leave Tendulkar remains unclear, he might be recalled if Goa qualify for further stages of the tournament.
Speaking of the Indian all-rounder, after beginning his career with Mumbai, Arjun Tendulkar moved to Goa for 2022-23 season. He has fared well in First-Class, scoring 532 runs, including a century and picking 37 wickets to his name. The 25-year-old is likely to return for the Ranji Trophy plate final against Nagaland, starting January 23, 2025.
