After losing to Afghanistan in their respective Asia Cup 2022 openers, both Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are facing each other at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to book a berth in the Super Four stage alongside Afghanistan and India.
In the Group B fixture, Sri Lanka won the toss and selected to field first as the Bangladesh batters set a target of 184 runs with a loss of seven wickets.
During Bangladesh's batting, Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood was spotted communicating with his players in a rare manner. Chris displayed codes on the boards in the same way he did when he was England's coach.
However, the tactics didn't seem to be fruitful for the Sri Lanka side as their bowlers leaked a lot of runs. Among Sri Lanka bowlers, Asitha Fernando was the costliest as he gave 51 runs in four overs. For Bangladesh, Afif Hossain scored 39 off 22 and opener Mehidy Hasan made 38 off 26 before Mosaddek Hossain's 9-ball-24-run finish.
