The highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023 fixture between India and Pakistan could be washed away with a threat of rain thanks to the Balagolla storm, set to cross Kandy. Two of the cricketing world's biggest rivals, India and Pakistan could lock horns thrice in the upcoming continental tournament, setting up the stage for its big-ticket World Cup encounter in October.

Coming back to Kandy, the chance of rain for September 2 is 70% as per the Met Office. Heavy rain is set to start at around 8:30 a.m. with a 60% possibility which goes up to 70% at 11:30 a.m. The rains are expected to continue half an hour before the match and continue till 1:30 p.m. with their intensity reducing as the night sets in.
The Department of Meteorology also confirmed the development in a Wednesday bulletin to Sri Lanka News. The report said, “Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and Galle and Matara districts. Fairly heavy showers above 75mm can be expected at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.”
