The Indian duo of Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Pravin Ojas Deotale won gold in the Mixed Team Compound event at the Asian Games 2023, which is the first-ever gold in archery for India at the Asian Games. With this gold, India reached 71 medals and counting surpassing its previous best medal-tally of 70 medals at the Asian Games 2018.
In the gold medal clash in the Mixed Team Compound event at the Asian Games 2023 between the No. 1 Indian pair and the No.2 Korean pair, Surekha and Ojas defeated So Chaewon and Joo Jaehoon 159-158 in a near-perfect event.
The Indian duo registered two consecutive 159-point performances as they entered the final with a 159-154 win over the Kazakhstan pair of Adel Zhexenbinova and Andrey Tyutyun in the semi-final. Also, the top-seeded Indian pair defeated Malaysia 158-155 in the quarter-final.
