KL Rahul’s wife Athiya Shetty has posted an Instagram story for the 32-year-old after he delivered a match-winning knock for his team Delhi Capitals (DC) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match, played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. In DC’s one-sided win against the Yellow Army, Rahul played an instrumental role with his bat. DC handed Rahul the responsibility to open the innings with Jake Fraser-McGurk, after Faf du Plessis couldn’t make it to the playing XI due to an injury. McGurk departed in the first over of the match but Rahul showcased his batting mettle and played some elegant strokes from his bat. Riding on his 77 off 51, Delhi delivered a target of 184 runs to CSK.
Rahul’s performance emboldened DC bowlers as they restricted Ruturaj Gaikwad and his men to 158/5. In Delhi’s easy triumph, Rahul got the player of the match (POTM) award, for his brilliant knock. Witnessing the wicket-keeper batter’s excellent show, his wife Athiya took to her Instagram handle and posted a picture of Rahul batting in DC’s jersey against CSK. She also dropped a heart emoji in her story.
DC win their first IPL game against CSK in Chepauk after 15 years
DC’s latest win is their first success against CSK at the Chepauk Stadium in 15 years. Before this triumph, Delhi got the better of Chennai at the venue in 2010, when the Yellow Army won their maiden title under MS Dhoni’s leadership. DC are now leading the IPL 2025 points tally with their three wins in a row.
Chennai, on the other hand, are in the eighth spot after this defeat. CSK haven’t performed as per their reputation in this season but their fans won’t lose hope and expect the team to make a comeback in their next contest against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mohali on April 8.
