After making an exit from ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 in the group stage, Pakistan has been seeing a consistent downfall. After going down by nine wickets in the opening match of the five-match T20I series against New Zealand, they were handed a defeat by five wickets in the second one too, played on Tuesday, March 18 at the University Oval in Dunedin.
With a defeat in second T20I, Pakistan now trail the series by 0-2 margin. While the Men in Green posted 135 runs on the board in a rain-interrupted match, with their skipper Salman Ali Agha finishing as the top-scorer, their bowlers failed to make a mark as the hosts chased the total comfortably in 13.1 overs. Star pacer Shaheen Afridi had a forgettable day as he failed finish among the wickets, conceding 31 runs in his three overs.

Apart from this, Afridi, who is considered to be Pakistan’s best bowler, was smashed for four sixes in an over by New Zealand opener Tim Seifert despite troubling the batter in the opening over. Seeing this, fans took to social media to troll the Pakistani speedster.
While a few cricket fans who read cricket news daily called him “overrated”, a few others left no stone unturned as they were seen mocking out at the left-arm pacer. Moreover, the social media was flooded with memes, criticising the Pakistan cricket team on a whole.
