Kolkata Knight Riders broke the bank in the IPL 2024 auction to sign Mitchell Starc for a whopping sum of INR 24.75 Crore, which made him the most expensive player in tournament history. It led to the social media going abuzz with fans reacting to the mega IPL deal, with one user on X exclaiming “Australian Paisa League.”
For the unversed, the career of Mitchell Starc in the IPL has been quite short but very rewarding at the same time. He was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore during the 2014 and 2015 seasons for INR 5 Crore, wherein he picked up 34 wickets in 27 matches for the franchise.
After skipping a few IPL seasons, Kolkata Knight Riders availed the services of Mitchell Starc in 2018 for INR 9.40 Crore but he couldn’t play for them due to an injury. But now, he will wear the purple and gold of the Kolkata Knight Riders at long last after they managed to thwart off Gujarat Titans to bring him to the Eden Gardens for a record-breaking sum of money.
