When Royal Challengers Bengaluru were in control of the run chase against Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2024 match, the wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha tried to pump up his teammates to drag the contest with the ball. Virat Kohli, who was batting fluently at the striker’s end, took exception to that, and said, “B*******, aise kaise kheech loge? (How come you will drag it like that?).”
For the unversed, RCB were exceptional with the ball after putting GT into bat first, bundling them out for 147 within their allotted overs. In the run chase, the captain Faf du Plessis was exceptional with the bat in the powerplay, scoring 64 off 23 with 10 fours and three maximums, to put him firmly in control of the match.
After Faf du Plessis and Will Jacks lost their wickets in quick succession, the GT wicket-keeper, Wriddhiman Saha, was heard saying, “Chalo chalo, runs roko, match kheecho (Let’s go let’s go, stop the runs, drag the match).” At the striker’s end, Virat Kohli also heard Wriddhiman Saha’s comments, and responded to him in his unique style, with a bit of West Delhi boy immersed in it.
Virat Kohli bows down to Dinesh Karthik after receiving Orange Cap
Virat Kohli scored 42 off 27 in his innings with two fours and four maximums against Gujarat Titans, to put Royal Challengers Bengaluru on the brink of a vital win in the IPL 2024. He took down Mohit Sharma and Manav Suthar for big sixes on his way to regaining the Orange cap in the tournament with 547 runs in 11 innings, accepting it with grace from his teammate Dinesh Karthik in the post-match presentation after his team won by four wickets with 38 balls to spare.
Earlier in the match, Virat Kohli also inflicted an outstanding run out of Shahrukh Khan, who was looking quite dangerous with the bat before being dismissed for 37 off 24 with five four and one maximum. The wicket of Shahrukh Khan allowed RCB to put the lid on GT's scoring before stopping them to a below-par total at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
After winning the third straight match in the IPL 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have kept their hopes alive to make the playoffs, but they will need other results to go their way apart from winning all their matches in the remainder of the tournament.
