The Pakistan cricket team isn’t having a great time recently, losing the home Test series against Bangladesh by 0-2. Apart from that, Pakistan also suffered a group stage exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup after an embarrassing loss against United States for the first-time ever in cricket. Now, some strict action is likely to be taken by the PCB to get Pakistan back to their winning ways if reports are to be believed.

Notably, Pakistan’s white-ball skipper Babar Azam is not in its best form. In his captaincy reign, Pakistan failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 2023 ODI World Cup before being eliminated from the group stage in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Now, a Geo News report states that Babar Azam might lose his white-ball captaincy for Pakistan.

Babar Azam isn't captaining any of the teams in Champions One-Day Cup domestic tournament in Pakistan

Babar Azam also hasn’t got a chance to lead a team in the upcoming Champions One-Day Cup, starting from September 12, where other Pakistan players like Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Mohammad Haris are the captains of their respective teams.

As the reports of Babar Azam getting sacked as the white ball skipper have taken flight, his teammate Mohammad Rizwan is likely to be his next successor. Rizwan has been one of the top performers for Pakistan in white-ball cricket in recent times. Mohammad Rizwan could  take charge as a new white-ball skipper of Pakistan during the upcoming tour to Australia where Pakistan are scheduled to play three T20Is and as many ODIs.
