Pakistan cricket team joined Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final after defeating Afghanistan in the Super Four stage on Wednesday. After the match, skipper Babar Azam's father claimed that Pakistan will not only lift the Asia Cup 2022 but also the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022.

Pakistan beat Afghanistan by one wicket and clinched two wins in two Super Four games as they defeated India in the opener by five wickets.

Pakistan young gun Naseem Shah smashed two consecutive sixes in the last over and helped his team win the game, which was in Afghanistan's favour till the 19th over. After the match, Babar Azam's father was asked about the skipper's lacklustre performance in the tournament. To this he said, "Babar will work hard and rectify the errors in his batting."

When asked about Babar Azam lifting the Asia Cup 2022, his father said, "Babar will not lift the Asia Cup, Pakistan will lift it."

After the game against Afghanistan, Mohammad Rizwan overtook Babar Azam to become the top T20I batter in the world. Babar's father was asked about the same and he replied, "For me, everyone in the Pakistan team is Babar Azam, Rizwan is also Babar for me."

Meanwhile, India will face Afghanistan on Thursday as both the teams will meet for a mere formality as the Asia Cup 2022 final spots are already filled by Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
