Indian bowlers, despite the absence of star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, put on a remarkable show and wrapped up England’s innings at 319 runs to gain a 126-run lead. After registering a win in the second game of the series, India hosted their English guests for the third game at the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Days 1 and 2 of the clash saw India putting up a giant total of 445 runs, and Ravichandran Ashwin joining the elite 500-Test wicket gang.
Ashwin, however, had to withdraw from the game due to unforeseen circumstances and the home favourites had to continue with 10 men. Despite the absence of the star of the show, the Indian bowling lineup consisting of names like Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav delivered a powerful game and compelled the rivals to surrender at 319.
Siraj picked four wickets for the side while conceding 84 runs, whereas Yadav and Jadeja finished with two wickets each. Ashwin had dismissed Zak Crawley to register himself in the 500-Test wicket club on Day 2; Jasprit Bumrah also settled for one wicket.
