The Ballon d'Or 2024 ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, October 28 as Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior and Barcelona Femini’s Aitana Bonmati are expected to win the best footballers of the year award. The event, which sees French football honour the best male and female football players of the 2023-24 season, will see its 68th edition take place tonight in the French capital, Paris.

Notably, the Ballon d’Or is awarded annually, recognising individual brilliance on the football pitch over a year. Ever since its introduction in 1956, the Ballon d’Or has turned out to be the most coveted prizes in football.  Moreover, the 2024 edition also marks a new beginning of an era with two of the greats of the game, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo not making into the 30-player list of nominees. It also ends the decade long dominance of the two football icons that saw them win 13 times in last 16 years.
