The Men in Green are taking on Australia in the three-match Test series Down Under. While the visitors trail the series 0-2 after the hosts took an unassailable lead after a dominating 360 runs and 79 runs victory in the two Tests so far. The Shan Masood-led side will now take on the six-time world champions in the final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, starting January 3.
While the team management has been trying to field the best possible XI for the final Test, vice-captain Shaheen Shah Afridi likely may not feature in the XI or might have reduced workload. However, all are reports as of now, it will be seen if either of it happens. But in a video going viral, former cricketer Shahid Afridi spoke of his son-in-law being named the T20I skipper.
Speaking at an event for Shahid Afridi Foundation, the former skipper said, “Main toh T20 mein isko (Mohammad Rizwan) captain chahta tha lekin Shaheen ban gaya galti se (I want to see him (Rizwan) as the T20 captain but mistakenly, Shaheen became the skipper).” This not only left the fans in splits but the Pakistan limited-overs skipper, who was present at the event was also left in split.

Speaking of Shaheen Afridi, the 23-year-old will take on the captaincy reins after Babar Azam stepped down after team’s dismal performance at the ODI World Cup 2023 in India. He will take the charge for the T20I series against New Zealand, starting January 12.
He is a fighter: Shahid Afridi on Mohammad Rizwan
The former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi also spoke of wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, who has been a senior member in the side. “(I admire Rizwan’s) hardwork and focus level. His best quality, which I like most, is only focusing on his game and paying no heed to who doing what and what not. He is really a fighter!,” Afridi said.
