Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the Bangladesh squad that will fly to the West Indies and the USA to participate in the T20 World Cup 2024. The Tiger, who have never clinched the showpiece event, will be captained by Najmul Hossain Shanto, who also led the side in the 2023 ODI World Cup.
The team composition highlights the return of their seasoned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan in the side, who recently played the shortest format for the National side after a gap of nearly a year. The BCB opted for an experienced side for the marquee event with only Tanzim Hasan Sakib earning his selection to the World Cup after playing just two games against Zimbabwe recently.
Bangladesh are drawn in Group D alongside South Africa, Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, and Nepal. They will open their season against their arch-Asian rivals Sri Lanka on June 7 in Dallas.
