The skipper of the West Indies side, Rovman Powell has been traded to the Barbados Royals from Jamaica Tallawahs for Hayden Walsh on Wednesday (May 3). West Indies leg-spinner Hayden Walsh has been with the Barbados Royals since 2019 and even won the player of the tournament award in his very first season with the Royals.
Meanwhile, Rovman Powell was an important player in the Jamaica side since he joined them in 2016. The West Indies captain led the Jamaica Tallawahs to their third CPL title in the 2022 edition of the tournament. The 20-year old batter also posted a heartfelt tweet on Wednesday (May 3) afternoon thanking his coaches, colleagues and most importantly the fans who supported him in Jamaica. He also added that he is parting ways with a heavy heart.
The big hitter has scored 972 runs in his T20I career with a healthy strike-rate of 138.46 at an average of 24.3. He was named as the captain of the West Indies side for T20Is in February earlier this year. Rovman Powell is currently part of the Delhi Capitals squad in the IPL 2023. He was bought by the franchise for INR 2.80 Crore and has so far featured in only three of their matches.
