Barry McCarthy, Ireland fast bowler, smashed his first fifty in T20I cricket against India at Malahide Cricket Club Ground in Dublin on August 18, Friday. During the first T20I of the three-match series, the 30-year-old came out to bat at number eight in the batting order with his team in all sorts of trouble at 6-59 in the 11th over.

He went on to stitch together an all-important 57-run stand with Curtis Campher to bring Ireland out of trouble, before tearing into Arshdeep Singh to help take the team total to 139/7 in their allotted 20 overs. During his sparkling innings, Barry McCarthy smashed four 4s and four 6s, to finish with 51 not out in 33 balls.
