The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has extended pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s No Objection Certificate (NOC) to feature in the IPL 2024. The Bangladesh pacer, who was originally set to return on April 30 after he was granted the NOC to feature in the tournament till April end, will now extend his stay.
It is to be noted that this comes as a boost to the reigning champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who will play their tenth match of the IPL 2024 league stage against Punjab Kings on Wednesday, May 1. “We had given Mustafizur a leave to play in the IPL till April 30, but since Chennai has a match on May 1, we have extended his leave by a day upon receiving requests from Chennai and the BCCI,” said Shahriar Nafees, BCB’s Deputy Manager of Cricket Operations, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.
The 28-year-old will thereafter leave for Bangladesh for the upcoming T20I home series against Zimbabwe, which will commence from May 3. Bangladesh will host Zimbabwe for five-match T20I series from May 3 to 12. The Bangla Tigers will then travel to the USA for a three-match T20I series as a preparatory leg for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 from May 21 till 25 in Texas.
Speaking of the left-arm quick, Rahman sits at third place in the Purple Cap race with 10 wickets from five innings in IPL 2024. The 28-year-old has registered his best bowling inning of 29/4 and currently averages 18.30 with an economy of 9.15 in the IPL 2024.
