The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have been served a legal notice from a Supreme Court lawyer to remove Shakib Al Hasan from all forms of cricket with immediate effect after being named a murder case. BCB President Faruque Ahmed remarked that they will take a decision on Shakib Al Hasan’s future in cricket after the ongoing Pakistan versus Bangladesh Test match.

Notably, in a murder case filed on Thursday, August 22, in Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan was named. It was filed by Rafiqul Islam, the father of the garment factory worker Rubel Islam, who got killed in Dhaka on August 5.

It led  to Shajib Mahmood Alam, the Supreme Court lawyer in Bangladesh, sending a legal notice to the BCB on Saturday, August 24, via email, according to a report from Cricbuzz. He also registered post on behalf of Advocate Md Rafinur Rahman, wherein he asked for the removal of Shakib Al Hasan from all forms of cricket with immediate effect.

According to the rules of the ICC, Shakib Al Hasan cannot remain in the Bangladesh cricket team after being named in a court case.

Meanwhile, Faruque Ahmed, the President of the BCB, said that legal notice hasn’t been received by them yet. He also spoke to the reporters after a meeting with some of the board of directors of the BCB and remarked, “Let me say about Shakib. A case has been lodged. We are yet to get any legal notice. A FIR (first information letter) was given in the case and later there will be an investigation and following that the case will move in one direction or the other.”

“Look now we are playing Test match and it is very good news that we have played well in the fourth day and tomorrow is the fifth day, the deciding day of the Test and I think at this point we did not think about taking any stance. After tomorrow’s game is over we will sit and take a decision. By this time we can also say something about the legal notice as we will receive the legal notice by that time,” he added.
