In a historic and path breaking move, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah announced changes in the match fee structure for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Shah announced that players in the cash-rich league will get a match fee of INR 7.5 lakh per game in addition to their contracted amount from the upcoming season. This is for the first time that the concept of match fees has been introduced in the IPL. The announcement came after the IPL governing body and management met for a meeting in Bengaluru on Saturday, September 28.
Apart from introducing individual match fee, Shah also announced that every player who would play all league-stage games in the forthcoming season will get an additional 1.05 crores. As fans wait for the announcement regarding retention rules ahead of the mega auction for the IPL 2025, Shah’s announcement came as a surprise to all.

The newly elected ICC chairman, Shah, took to X to announce the historic move and revealed that each player will get a match fee of INR 7.5 lakh. Not only this, but the cricket governing body has also decided to reward players for their consistency throughout the season with INR 1.05 crore in addition to their contractual fee. Apart from that, Shah also said that each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crore as match fee for the season.

A cricketer playing all league matches in a season will get Rs. 1.05 crores in addition to his contracted amount. Each franchise will allocate INR 12.60 crores as match fees for the season!
