The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to host its Annual Awards in Hyderabad. The award ceremony will mark its return after four years hiatus, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. According to SportsTiger sources, the awards will be held in Hyderabad ahead of the first Test between India and England.

It is being further added that both teams will also attend the function. The last BCCI Annual Awards took place for the 2018-19 season on January 13, 2020 in Mumbai. Talking about the upcoming award ceremony, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah informed the Apex Council members in a written notice about the ceremony.  

“This prestigious event serves as a platform to recognize and honour the outstanding achievements of the best cricketers in India. The BCCI Annual Awards hold a special place in our hearts, as they symbolize excellence, dedication and passion for our wonderful sport,” he stated in the communication.

“I believe that your participation will not only be a testament to your support for Indian cricket, but also acknowledgement of the tremendous contributions made by our cricketing heroes and to promise shown by young achievers. Please accept our gratitude for your continuous support to Indian cricket,” Shah further added.

Speaking of the 2020 awards ceremony, Jasprit Bumrah won the ‘Polly Umrigar Award’ for the best international cricketer, while Poonam Yadav won the same in the women’s category. Moreover, former opener K. Srikkanth bagged the CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award, with Anjum Chopra being bestowed with it in the women’s category.
