England’s red-ball captain Ben Stokes recently was forced to walk off the field after sustaining a hamstring injury in the third and final Test of the three-match series against New Zealand. However, the England skipper did not take the field thereafter, he will continue to sit out for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 and the England tour of India.
According to the latest update, shared by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), Ben Stokes has now been ruled out for a period of three months after sustaining a recurring torn hamstring. The 33-year-old all-rounder is all set to undergo a surgery early next years, followed by his rehabilitation.

It is to be noted that Stokes suffered the same injury in August this year while batting for Northern Superchargers against Manchester Originals in the Men’s Hundred. He was forced to sit out on the sidelines for the next two months. But recently, the ECB confirmed the severity of Stokes' injury with the latter also reacting on the same.
"Something else to overcome...go on then!!!!!!!!," Stokes wrote on X after the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed his injury. "I've got so much more left in this tank and so much more blood, sweat, and tears to go through for my team and this shirt. There's a reason I have a Phoenix permanently inked on my body. See you on the field to f*** some s*** up,” he added.
Notably, Stokes 36.2 overs in Hamilton were the most he has bowled in Test since 40 at Trent Bridge in 2022. In the recently concluded New Zealand series, Stokes brought seven dismissals at 36.85 from a total of 66.1 overs, which were also his most as captain.
