Early on Sunday, December 22, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma sustained a blow on his left knee ahead of the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne. The 37-year-old, who joined the Indian camp during the Perth Test, hasn’t been in the best form off late. But recently, Rohit got stuck on his left knee, raising injury concerns in the Indian camp ahead of fourth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test series.

Rohit injured his knee during a session with the throwdown specialist Daya when the ball sneaked through his pads and hit him on his left knee. In the pictures making waves on soial media, Rohit Sharma was seen apply ice pack on his knee as he hobbled out of the nets in Melbourne.

This is not a matter of concern: Akash Deep on Rohit Sharma’s injury

Speaking after Sunday’s practice session in Melbourne, the right-arm seamer Akash Deep provided a big update on Rohit’s injury. "Injuries happen when you play cricket. This is not a matter of concern" Akash Deep told the reporters.

Moreover, the injury to Rohit Sharma came after KL Rahul sustained a finger injury on Saturday, December 21. As per reports, the batter was hit on his fingers while batting in the nets on Saturday. While there has been no official statement regarding the severity of the injury, in the videos making rounds, Rahul was seen receiving medical attention to his right arm.

Akash Deep recalls receiving continuous advice from senior members

Addressing the media on Sunday, the 28-year-old pacer also recalled the support he has received from the senior members in the team, including Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah. “Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli's feedback regarding my bowling is really helpful. They both helped us in the nets whether it is me or Harshit Rana and that made it easy for us to bowl. When there are not many thoughts running in the mind we can perform with a free mind in the match," Akash Deep said.
