The Indian cricket team will play against Australia in the fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) from December 26 onwards. After the third Test match at the Gabba in Brisbane, which ended in a draw mainly due to rain affecting play on all five days, the BGT series is currently 1-1 with two matches remaining in it.
India have a very impressive record at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in their last three Test matches against Australia, beating them comprehensively the previous two times apart from drawing MS Dhoni’s final game in the longest format as captain in 2014. But, the Indian batting lineup is short of runs as a unit in the previous two BGT matches, and they are a bit overly reliant on Jasprit Bumrah to take wickets, which isn’t an ideal thing going into the MCG Test.

Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul
Apart from a hundred in the second innings of the first BGT Test, Yashasvi Jaiswal has had it difficult to get through the first spell of the Australian pacers as Mitchell Starc troubled him the most. KL Rahul has looked the most confident and secured batter from India at the crease throughout the BGT Test series, but he is yet to go past a three-figure score, reaching fifties in Perth and Brisbane on tough batting pitches.
