Chris Lynn turned out to be a match winner as Adelaide Strikers defeated Melbourne Renegades by five wickets in match number 20 of the 2024-25 Big Bash League at the Marvel Stadium in Docklands, Melbourne. In reply to Renegades’ total of 142/9, Lynn smashed 88(51) runs as the Strikers chased the winning target in 17.1 overs, to get their second win of the season.
Batting first, Melbourne Renegades lost the first wicket at the score of nine runs. After that, Josh Brown took charge of the innings and top scored with 66 runs off 41 balls, smashing five fours and six sixes. Apart from that, Jacob Bethell also scored run-a-ball 21 runs. However, none of the other batters could play a big knock as Melbourne were restricted to under 150 runs. For Adelaide Strikers, Henry Thornton took three scalps, Lloyd Pope and Jamie Overton took two wickets each, while Brendan Doggett and Cameron Boyce scalped a wicket each.

Chasing the winning target, Chris Lynn and D’Arcy Short put up an opening partnership of 104 runs in 11 overs. Short got out after scoring 27(20) runs, hitting two four and as many sixes. It led to Lynn taking charge of the innings with wickets kept falling regularly from the other end. The opening batter got out after scoring 88 runs off 51 balls, hitting 10 fours and four sixes.
After that, skipper Alex Ross and Jamie Overton took Adelaide Strikers over the winning line as Adelaide Strikers chased the winning target in 17.1 overs. For Melbourne Renegades, Tom Rogers and Adam Zampa scalped 2-2 wickets each, while Jacob Bethell put one in his bag.
