David Warner, the former Australian cricketer, slammed Air India on the social media platform X for making him and other passengers board the plane with no pilots in New Delhi on Saturday evening, March 22. The 38-year-old also critiqued the long waiting time after they boarded the plane which had no pilots, and in response, Air India sent out details about the delay in the departure to him, appreciating him for his patience.

In his post on X, David Warner questioned why Air India made the passengers board the plane if they knew about the non-availability of the pilots. He wrote, “@airindia we’ve boarded a plane with no pilots and waiting on the plane for hours. Why would you board passengers knowing that you have no pilots for the flight?”

We appreciate your patience and thank you for choosing to fly with us: Air India to David Warner

A couple of hours after David Warner had called out Air India on X, with his post going viral, the social media account of the airline took stock of the situation, and responded in his comments section. They revealed that the weather in Bengaluru caused complete chaos for Air India as far as the availability of the pilots was concerned, creating a domino-effect in New Delhi.

“Dear Mr. Warner, today's challenging weather in Bengaluru caused diversions and delays across all airlines. The crew operating your flight was held up on an earlier assignment affected by these disruptions, which led to a delay in departure. We appreciate your patience and thank you for choosing to fly with us,” wrote Air India.

Moreover, David Warner is in India currently despite not being picked by any of the teams in the mega auction for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which has just begun on March 22.
