Former Indian batter Mohammed Kaif shared his insights on Virat Kohli’s struggles regarding deliveries against off-stump. The former cricketer pointed out how Kohli has been getting dismissed on a predictable pattern. It has become so common that players, like Australia’s Scott Boland, who play even one or two Test matches can dismiss him easily. Kaif reflected on the second Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy, and spoke about his dismissal on similar kinds of deliveries outside the off stump in both the innings.
Kaif said, "Boland, who plays only a few Test matches each year, clearly understands how to bowl to Virat Kohli. By consistently targeting the area outside the off-stump, he tempts Kohli into playing at it, leading to an edge and a caught-behind dismissal. This strategy is no longer a hidden tactic. It’s well-known.”
Everyone knows Virat Kohli's weakness; why can’t we do same for Travis Head?: Mohammed Kaif
The 44-year-old also went on to say that the Indian team needs to exploit Travis Head’s weakness, the same way the opposition team targets Kohli by bowling outside off stump. Kaif said, "If Boland knows how to trap Kohli then why can't we do the some for Travis Head?If his weakness is outside the off-stump, why don’t we consistently bowl there? Every batsman has weaknesses. Everyone knows Virat Kohli's weakness. You bowl it outside the off-stump and he will nick it.”
He added, “You'll need to adopt the same strategy against Travis Head as well. You need to move ahead with proper planning. You need to attack him from the first ball; you need to make a fixed plan to exploit his weakness, and then you can get him out," said Kaif in a video shared on his social media handles.”
